It gives me immense pleasure to extend a warm welcome, on behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Information & Computing Sciences, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Karachi, to all students joining us for the new academic session. Since 2019, the Department has been providing quality education in Computer Science and steadily strengthening its reputation among students and industry partners across the country. In line with the vision of DUET, we aspire to expand our academic offerings in the future by introducing postgraduate degree programs to promote advanced learning and research in emerging technologies.

Our department provides an excellent academic environment for students aspiring to build successful careers in computing, innovation, and cutting-edge technologies. Our mission is to produce knowledgeable, skilled, and competent graduates equipped with strong theoretical foundations, practical programming skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. We are committed to preparing our students for the challenges of the digital era through quality education, research-oriented learning, and exposure to emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Science. Furthermore, we aim to empower Pakistan’s youth in alignment with the Government of Pakistan’s 5Es Framework and national development priorities by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and technological advancement.

 About the Department: 

1. Department Overview

The Department of Computer Science has been established in 2019. The Department of Computer Science is dedicated to excellence in education, research, and innovation in the rapidly evolving field of computing. The department offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) degree program comprising eight semesters. Since its establishment, the program has attracted increasing interest from students seeking to pursue careers in computing and information technology. The department focuses on providing students with a strong foundation in computer science, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills and exposure to emerging technologies. Through quality teaching, hands-on learning, research, and industry engagement, the department prepares graduates to meet the challenges of the modern digital world.

2. Academic Programs

The Department of Computer Science currently offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) degree program consisting of eight semesters. The program is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills across fundamental and advanced areas of computer science. The curriculum emphasizes programming, problem-solving, software development, databases, artificial intelligence, data science, computer networks, operating systems, and other contemporary areas of computing. Students are encouraged to develop analytical thinking, creativity, innovation, and research capabilities that prepare them for professional careers and higher studies.

3. Faculty and Staff

The Department of Computer Science has a team of 10 qualified and experienced faculty members committed to providing quality education, academic guidance, and research opportunities.

The faculty comprises:

· 05 PhD faculty members with expertise in Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

· 05 faculty members holding MS degrees in Computer Science and Engineering.

With diverse academic and professional expertise, our faculty members contribute to teaching, research, student supervision, curriculum development, and academic activities. Their commitment to excellence helps create a supportive learning environment where students can develop the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the field of computing.

Mission of Computer Science Department: To train a new generation of computer science leaders and innovators through cutting edge research and industry partnership to propel technical progress and economic success.
